There
are hundreds of better tutorials and a variety of great books on these
same subjects, but people ask me for tutorials anyway.
I understand, because it's easier for me to learn from someone near
my own skill level. As I get better, I find myself learning from more
accomplished artists, and when I reach their level, I'm suddenly learning
things from even more experienced artists.
I'm flattered you care what I have to say about Doing Art. Thanks
for your interest, and I hope these are useful! If you want me to
make a specific tutorial, e-mail me at kingtut
at thepussinboots dot net. |

When
I used to hang out on Elfwood, I got tips from many great artists,
but my friend Risto-Matti J. Kääriäinen was kind enough
to make me a personal tutorial on his techniques for drapery. Since
I possibly get more compliments on my clothing folds than any other
single aspect of my art, I really owe him for this!

This
is a very simple tutorial to help you start inking with confidence.
Any artist might find this useful, but comic artists especially will
find that varying line weights and strokes can produce better motion
and emotion in their work. It's
hammer time! |
